Buy a Jet Seat

Frequently asked questions

Seats, whole-aircraft charter, prices, safety and the day of travel.

Booking

How do I request a quote?

Use the request form on any page. Add your route, date, number of travelers and contact details, and choose whether you want a seat or the whole jet. Your advisor replies by email with options.

Is there a membership, deposit or sign-up?

None of the three. You can ask for as many quotes as you like without paying or signing anything; payment terms only come up in the agreement you sign to book.

Can I book one-way, round-trip or multi-city trips?

Yes, in the US and worldwide. For a multi-city trip, list the extra legs in the notes and we will price the whole itinerary.

How far ahead should I book?

As early as you can for holidays and big events, when aircraft get committed weeks ahead. Short-notice trips are often possible, with fewer aircraft to choose from.

Seats

Can I buy a single seat on a private jet?

Yes, on flights set up to sell seats: semi-private scheduled services and public charters, which run on set routes and dates. An ordinary charter is sold as the whole aircraft.

What if there is no seat on my date?

We tell you plainly. If seats exist on a nearby date we will mention it, and we can quote the whole aircraft for your original date.

Can I share a charter with friends?

Yes. One person or company charters the aircraft, and the group splits the cost however it likes. It is often the most comfortable way to lower the per-person price.

Prices

What does all-in mean?

The quote includes flight time, positioning, the 7.5% federal excise tax on domestic flights, the per-passenger segment fee, landing and handling fees and crew costs. Extras such as catering and Wi-Fi are itemized.

Why can a one-way charter cost nearly as much as a round trip?

Because the aircraft often has to fly home empty, and that positioning flight is part of the price. An aircraft already heading your way, an empty leg, can remove that cost.

Are empty legs cheaper?

Often 25 to 75 percent below a normal charter. They fly a fixed route at a fixed time and can be cancelled if the original trip changes, so keep a backup plan.

Safety

Who operates the flights?

FAA Part 135 air carriers in the US, or their foreign equivalents abroad. Buy a Jet Seat is the broker; the operator holds operational control and is named in your agreement.

What do ARGUS, Wyvern and IS-BAO mean?

They are independent safety audits of operators. ARGUS rates Gold, Gold+ and Platinum; Wyvern’s standard is called Wingman; IS-BAO registers operators in stages 1 to 3. We tell you which an operator holds.

On the day

When should I arrive?

For domestic flights, usually 20 to 30 minutes before departure at the private terminal. International trips need more time for documents. Your itinerary gives the exact advice from the operator.

What ID do I need?

Government-issued photo ID for domestic flights, and passports plus any visas for international trips. The operator may ask for passenger details in advance.

Can I bring my pet?

On many charter aircraft, yes, with the operator’s approval. Seat flights set their own pet rules, often with a limit per cabin. Tell us in your request.
